DJ sets online I've uploaded a whole bunch of DJ mixes. There are a *ton* of old 80s new-wave/alternative mixes, plus a handful of mixes of 70s disco, 80s house, 80s industrial, early 90s pop, early 90s techno, and a mashup mix. For track lists and mp3s, go here: http://hyperreal.org/~mw/mixes.html
YAZOO reconnected tour so... who's goin'?

alf & vince together again. yay!
Josie Cotton. I just had the pleasure of acting in Josie Cotton's new video for a cover of the song 'Maneaters' which was the theme song to "She-Devils On Wheels". Her new CD is all covers of songs from cult movies of the 60's and 70's and her voice sounds incredible! The video is going to be awesome, a total homage to B-Movies!!
The Mary Onettes I just discovered this band from Sweden-instant love. Echo; Cure; "A-ha in black". Who do they sound like to you ?

Top 5 Underappreciated Bands of the 80's 1. Tenpole Tudor - strange, boisterous pub-rock/new wave band from the UK.
2. Orange Juice - Scottish band featuring Edwyn Collins (he had that solo hit: "A Girl Like You' a few years ago). Their first album "Can't Hide Your Love Forever" is fab.
3. Dolly Mixture - All-girl sort of twi-post-punk UK band. Rough but sweet.
4. Fun Boy Three - Most people know their song "Our Lips Are Sealed" (made famous by the Go-Gos) but their two full length albums are swell.
5. The Names - These guys were kind of the Belgian Joy Division - they got pretty experimental with dischordant guitar sounds n stuff.
Bonus: Mathematiques Modernes - Either French or Belgian duo who had this fantastic single called "Rough-Disco" (which Stereolab "borrowed" from on one of the songs on "Emperor Tomato Ketchup")
Opinions? Additions?
(P.S. I'm new here so I hope I'm not being redundant)
Information Society @ DNA - Sun. - 1/13/08 This concert looks very cool ! Opening is Spellbound, the SF Siouxsie and the Banshees tribute band.
"For the first time in nearly 15 years, the three original members of Information Society -- Paul Robb, James Cassidy, and Kurt Larson -- will be performing a live, full set together. These live shows will be few and far between, so we recommend if you live anywhere in the vicinity of these cities, and have ever wanted to see INSOC's legendary live show, now is the time.
The group will be playing songs from each and every album they have released, including the ultra-rare INSOC EP and Creatures of Influence, Don't Be Afraid, and the new release Synthesizer. Also on tap will be a few old-school analog headbangers that haven't been heard since the early 80s."

New David Sylvian Book... Greetings to all,
I’m very happy to announce that my new book “David Sylvian – Moments in Time” is now on sale!
As you may remember, David was the front man for "Japan" back in the 80's.
Since then, he's gone from strength to strength as an artist.
The book contains photographs that I have taken of him in Chicago, USA and Conegliano, Italy.
The website accepts payment in US Dollars, Pounds or Euros. Please look to the bottom right hand side
Of the page to select your language and currency.
There is also a small preview of the book available.

Mojo November 2007 has a number of New Wave articles... Including a six page interview/nostalgia trip with Blondie in the midst of a seven page A--Z of New Wave (OK, more English than elsewhere and being Australian I find it sad that there's little (no) mention of The Sports, Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons, The Sunnyboys, Lena Lovich, Split Enz, The Church (well, there first album at least), Real Life, Mi-Sex, James Freud and The Radio Stars, The Saints, The Reels, The Dugites, nor Icehouse). Oh, well.
Anyway, all the best,
Bobster

need help from B-52's fans
I recently heard a mix of Love Shack that I can't find anywhere. It started with what sounded like the first minute or so of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" and then went into a very accoustic sounding "Love Shack". It was SWEET, but because of where/how I heard it (don't ask) I will likely never find it again without help. So, HELP!!
If anyone has a lead, let me know.
